RULES
How does this RP work?
First and foremost, welcome to the site! We look forward to roleplaying with you and seeing what you can do with a deck of cards under your control. Basically, we have an integral roleplay system that is designed here on the forum to maintain casual roleplay and basic roleplay interests such as character development, history creation or more serious things like plotline expansion. Secondly, duelist encounters with NPC enemies (controlled by admins with premade decks), or encounters with actual other roleplaying duelists, are part of the external core system of Duelist Network. All duels will be carried out here, and you will also visit DN to set up your deck once you begin roleplaying, or to make edits to your deck.
Chatbox Rules
While in the Chatbox:
- We don't care if you swear. Just don't overdo it.
- Don't spam.
- No inappropriate/offensive content (anything sexually or racially motivated).
- No flaming/bullying/insulting other members. These are your colleagues, not your rivals.
- Be kind. It isn't hard.
- Proper grammar is appreciated, and punctuation is key.
- Please do not CAPSLOCK rage.
- Critiquing is allowed only if another member asks for assistance.
While on the Forum:
- You cannot travel until you wrap up all active topics in your current location.
- You cannot kill in topics with an [NK] tag, NO MATTER WHAT.
- You cannot join topic with a [P] (Private) tag, unless invited or your characters name is specified in the title.
- Alteration of your deck, duelist or anything involving your character without administrative approval is forbidden.
Violation of ANY and ALL of these rules can and will result in kicking/banishment from T5S
Are there rules to this?
Yes, there are. And they are as follows below:
You may not use any card in your deck that you have not been TRADED, been GIVEN, or PURCHASED during creation/IC Roleplay/OOC Shop Purchasing. If you are caught doing this, you will receive a temporary banishment. This is considered cheating, and is not tolerated at any rate. You may only trade cards to other players, give cards to other players or purchase cards from players IC'ly. There is an Out-of-Character Shop duelists can visit to purchase cards individually or in packs outside of the In-Character game environment.
Once you successfully register and create your character, during that process you'd have selected which Starter Deck you'd like to begin with. At this point, you can create a topic in the Duelist Directory, labeled as "Duelist: *Character Name*", upon doing this, you will place your list of cards under your "Active Deck" section, and any cards you possess that are not being used are to be placed under your "Collection" section. Once this step is completed and approved of by an administrator, you may begin roleplaying and dueling other members of the site. This is to make sure that all cards played on Duel Network are Legally played, and helps administrators/moderators maintain justice both in and out of both of these networks.
All duels are to take place ONLY on DUEL NETWORK. Additionally, any roleplaying duelist can request support from an administrator or duel moderator if they feel an illegal action was carried out during the duel. Upon which time, they will enter the room and verify the situation, and carry out the punishment or otherwise once a logical conclusion is reached.
Upon creation, you will be placed in the [Duelist] group, and be given the rank of "New Duelist". Throughout your time spent here, you may participate in tournaments, or events, which will give you new ranks and rewards upon rank achievement. Also, there are other groups of duelists you will come across, some being [Rare Hunters], and others being duelists from the [UDC], or United Dueling Corporation, which is a faction created solely for the purpose of defending others from Rare Hunters, and are considered elite duelists.
So how are things carried out here?
The setting behind the site, as well as DN, is based off of Yu-Gi-Oh's original series leading up to the arrival of the Egyptian God Cards. This consists of the original 365 cards (not including the 3 Egyptian God Cards), which makes the grand total 368. Card numbers 351 to 365 are secret cards and may only be awarded through special events. Every card is numbered, though only 350 of them are available to the general public immediately, cards
366-465 are all considered Secret Rare and difficult to acquire.
When you purchase a pack of cards, you will roll a dice, designated in the forum as "Open Card Pack". You will be given 7 randomly generated numbers, and the corresponding number will match whatever card you are to receive, which will be NAMED and POSTED in list-format in the same topic by an admin/mod. Once an administrator has named and posted the cards given, you may add the cards to your character page located in the Duelist Directory. Also, don't forget to edit your deck on Duelist Network if you happen to get some new cards you think may be useful!
Additionally, in the "Kame Game Shop" main forum; "OOC Game Shop" sub-forum, you may browse the five randomly generated cards, which are refreshed weekly, and purchase one or more, if your financial status allows it. Each of these cards carries a certain number next to it of that same card, signifying how many of that card is available at any one given time. Any one person can buy as many of these cards as they'd like assuming they can afford it. This is also where you will purchase a pack of cards.
Are there special rules regarding certain cards?
Yes. There are specified cards throughout the game that are "limited", or card-count restrictive, signifying that each of the cards that falls under the status of 'Secret Rare' are considered genuine cards, and there are only so many copies available to anyone at any given time. These designated Secret Rare cards and their number of claims are listed below, as well as who has claimed the card. As you browse this list, please note that any cards that have a quantity below are exclusive, limited cards. Event cards are labeled yellow and can only be gained through special means, such as winning a tournament or completing an achievement. Event cards have no specified prerequisite to obtain, and can only be given by the Head Administrator, Sammy.
After a secret rare card is achieved the card can only be traded, sold or given away by the owner, unless that roleplayer becomes inactive, in which case, the card will be given to a random active duelist on the forum as a result. Cards without this color label are only available through a random event known as a 'Special Encounter', which happens during an active roleplay topic, and decided upon by an administrator at any given time. During these encounters, you may simply find a rare card on the ground, or, even be challenged by an NPC administrator-controlled Rare Hunter; the stakes being your rarest card for theirs!

Re: RULES
Currency System
Quite simply put, the Currency used throughout the roleplay world are Star Chips. Earned by completing Duel Bounty's, defeating other Duelists or through other unique means such as Special Encounters, you can spend your Star Chips for packs of cards, or save them for participation in a tournament! Star Chips may be traded, or given away, though only possible through Administrative approval.
Upon approval after initial Duelist creation, each Duelist may receive 5 Star Chips to start off with. You may do as you wish with them. Leaders of the factions, such as the representative of Northern Keiritsu, the Rare Hunter Queen/King, or the United Duelist Corporation Leader, receive a weekly income of 5 Star Chips. Star Chips are also regularly earned by posting in the roleplay. For every 200 Words written, 1 Star Chip is awarded.

This title will only be given after their first 'prestige', but after that, the counter will continuously reset as 2000 Experience is achieved.
Anyone caught trying to spam posts to earn Experience will be punished accordingly based on the degree of their offense.
Experience Level - 200: 1 Event Card

Re: RULES
Counterfeiting
Counterfeiting is basically the process of creating a Duel Monsters card without it having to go through traditional UDC collective registration. You must be a Rare Hunter in order to do or resolve this. This may only be done Once per Rare Hunter, Once per Week and costs approximately 15 Star Chips.
In order to do this, your character must have seen the original card, or owned the original card, or currently own the original card, in order to make a counterfeit copy. Each card generated this way in the forum, must have a [CF] tag accompanied at the right of the card name in order to signify and properly identify that it is an illegal card.
Lawful Good United Duelist Corporation Elite's or Officials who come across these cards are to place a Duel Bounty on the individual they have physically seen In-Character using or holding the card, and must have noted in their post(s) that they have recognized that specific card as being illegal. If a Duel Bounty is claimed this way, the card is confiscated from the holder at the end of the duel. If a UDC Member is the holder of these cards and is caught, they are subject to IC-related character punishment.
If an Egyptian God Card is being created, the user will have their mind taken over by that EGC (Obelisk, Ra or Slifer), and be subject to dueling the creature in a Shadow Realm duel. If the counterfeiter can successfully complete the Rite of Trials, they will recieve the counterfeit God Card as a result of their victory. However, at any point, if a counterfeiter should lose this duel, they will lose a greater portion of their sanity for meddling in the realm of Gods. The specified rules for counterfeiting a card as as follows. If you have owned the card in the past, but no longer own it, you have a 50% chance of creating a successful copy that is usable in duels. This will be carried out by an admin tossing a coin heads/tails. If the selected side is what lands, you get the card. If not, you must wait another week and you still forfeit your 15 Star Chips for the attempt. If you currently own the card you are trying to duplicate, you have a 100% chance to duplicate a usable copy, unless its a God Card, in which case you must perform the Rite of Trials.
